Hapaki Farm is a family owned and operated business. In Hawaii, family is very important to us. We call it "Ohana". Family members come together and kokua (help) whenever needed.
In 1950, Mauna Loa, which means Long Mountain, came to life and erupted. Lava started to flow down the southwest slope to the Pacific Ocean. The flow reached the ocean and changed its direction three times. We know this lava flow as 1st lava flow, 2nd lava flow and 3rd lava flow. Located on the northern end of the 1st lava flow is Hapaki Farm.
In 1993, our home was finally ready for us. We moved in onto this lava flow. Lava, lava everywhere. We have cool and sometimes cold mornings, warm midmornings, hot afternoons with ocean breezes, and cool evenings with mist or rain. Our weather is almost predictable.
Our first seeds were planted in 1994. We dug holes into this virgin lava with hand tools, nurturing and cultivating the coffee trees like they are family.
Our plants are like us humans who like to be nurtured, pampered, talked to, held gently and disciplined with TLC (tender loving care).
Hapaki Farm presents "Grandma's Choice" 100% Kona Coffee. Grandma loves to drink good tasting, smooth Kona Coffee. She remembers drinking Kona Coffee as a "kid". There was coffee and water at breakfast.
